Oval, sturdy box made from wood, held together by cherry bark strips. Wonderful for small sewing tools, costly threads or other treasures. Measurements approx. 13 cm in length, 10 cm in width, 6 cm high. Usable room inside approx. 11 x 8 x 4 cm.

Boxes made from bent wood, sometimes visibly held together with nails, tacks or some other material can be found on late medieval pictures, but seem to have a long history before this. For example, some wood pieces from Schleswig in Northern Germany were identified as bottom of a wooden box, dated to the 11th, 12th and 13th century. Wooden boxes of this type are lightweight while still quite sturdy, and very well suited to keep small sewing implements safe.
