Data Protection and Privacy

Using this site is generally possible without personal data. For the use of individual services available on this site, however, it may be necessary to collect personal information about you. Your personal data (such as name, address, phone number, email) is stored and processed according to the General Data Protection Regulation. The following text informs you in detail about how your personal data is collected, stored and used.

Your personal data is only passed on to third parties if this is part of processing an order or fulfilling a contract, such as passing data on to a bank, payment processor or a logistics/delivery company. There is no further passing on of your data unless you have explicitly consented to this. Your data will never be given to others for advertising purposes.

SSL Encryption

This site uses SSL for better security and to protect your data when you send private comments or requests. You can confirm that SSL encryption is active by checking your browser address bar, which should show a closed lock and read "https://" at the start.

With active SSL, the data that you send cannot be read by third parties. Please note that data transmitted outside an SSL encryption, such as emails, might possibly be insecure, and that it is not possible to protect all data at all times from being accessed by third parties.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to recognise returning visitors to the pages. Cookies are small textfiles that are saved to your computer. These cookies may pass on information to recognise your return to this site using your IP address.

The cookies used by this site include "session-cookies" from VG Wort, Munich, to count access to texts in order to gauge the probability of these texts being copied. A session-cookie contains a randomly generated ID number, the session ID. In addition, the cookie contains information about its origin and the duration of storage. Session-cookies cannot store any other data. The measurements are done by INFOnline GmbH after the Scaleable Centralised Measuring procedure (SZM). They help to gauge probability of a text being copied, and this data is used to calculate if an author is eligible for receiving money via VG Wort.

Some of the pages may be equipped with JavaScript to pass on data about hit count to the Verwertungsgesellschaft Wort (VG Wort). This enables us to participate in the payout for internet texts from VG Wort, which is providing a statutory payment for the use of copyrighted texts (§ 53 UrhG).

Most browsers will accept cookies automatically. You can block cookies by setting your browser accordingly; in that case it may be possible that not all functions of this site are fully available to you.

Use of the SZM

Both the website and the mobile website use the „Skalierbare Zentrale Messverfahren“ (Scaleable Centralised Measuring, SZM) provided by INFOnline GmbH (https://www.infonline.de) to gather statistical information in order to gauge the probability of a text being copied.

For this, anonymised data is collected. The measurement of access counts to texts uses either a session-cookie or a signature generated from various information about your computer system that are automatically transferred by your browser. IP addresses are only collected in anonymised form.

This procedure was developed in full compliance to privacy of users, and it only aims to gauge probability of individual texts being copied. At no point, individual users are identified. You will not receive advertisements via the system.

Server data

Due to technical reasons, some data sent by your browser is stored in server logfiles:

  • Browser type and Version
  • your operating system
  • the site from which you came if following a link (Referrer URL)
  • the pages you visit
  • date and time of your visit
  • your IP address.

This data is stored separately from any personal data you have transmitted to this site, and thus is not traceable back to you personally. The server data is collected for statistical evaluation about the use of this website.

Registering

It is possible to register yourself on this site. During registration, you are asked to provide personal data such as name, company name, address, email address and phone number. These data are used exclusively for the use of services such as the online shop. Your IP address is also collected together with date and time of your registration; this is to prevent misuse of your personal data by registering you through a third party without your consent.

Newsletter

You have the possibility to subscribe to a newsletter on these pages. The newsletter will regularly inform you about offers and provide information about the site and the shop. You need a valid email address to subscribe to the newsletter. The address you provide when subscribing is confirmed with a confirmation email. When you register for the newsletter, your IP address as well as time and date of your subscription is also stored. No further data is connected to your email address for the newsletter subscription, and it is only used for this purpose.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time; details on how to do that can be found in the confirmation email as well as at the bottom of each newsletter.

Contact Form, Comment Function, and Order Form

You can contact me via email or via a contact form. If you do so, any personal data you send is used to process your request and contact you back. With contact via email, your data will not be passed on to any third party.

In the blog, you can comment on posts. If you do so, your comment is saved along with date and time of your comment, your email address and, if the comment is not anonymous, your username. The comment function also saves your IP address.

If you contact me via the contact form, comment on the blog, or if you place an order via the online shop, your input is saved along with date and time of your contact, comment or order, your email address and, if the comment is not anonymous, your username. To prevent spam, all input in all forms on the page, including the order form in the webshop, are checked by CleanTalk Inc, 711 S Carson Street, Suite 4, Carson City, NV 89701. Data sent for the check include your input into the form as well as your IP address and the URL from which the data was sent.

Your data is only stored by CleanTalk Inc in case it was rejected as spam. In that case, it is stored for 7 days and then deleted. It will not be passed on to any further parties. In case your comment or order was approved as valid, the data is not stored.

YouTube video components

This site uses YouTube functions to embed and show videos. YouTube, LLC 901 Cherry Ave., 94066 San Bruno, CA, USA, is part of Google Inc., Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

On pages with embedded videos, a connection to the YouTube servers is made to display the video to you. If you are logged in on YouTube, these information are connected to your account at YouTube. You can avoid this by logging out from YouTube before visiting these pages.
