RIP Harm Paulsen.

A friend messaged me this morning with sad news: Harm Paulsen died yesterday.

If you've been involved in German experimental archaeology, you'll know the name. Harm Paulsen was one of the very, very first experimental archaeologists, back when it was snuffed at and discounted by the "real scientists". He was an expert in Stone Age techniques, and one of the first flintknapping specialists, if not the first one.

I have never had the joy to meet him, but friends of mine have, and they were all full of wonderful stories about this wonderful man. He was a trailblazer for the experimental approach in archaeological science, so I am in his debt as well. He will be sorely missed.
